Summary

The Logistics Supervisor manages the inbound/outbound freight and inventory control functions, ensuring an adequate flow of materials throughout Operations.  This position reports to the Global Materials Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages Shipping/Receiving and Stockroom teams – directs daily departmental activity
  • Prioritizes workload for scheduled job pulls
  • Monitors the timely processing of incoming shipments and stocking items in the warehouse – ensures on-schedule processing of material throughout department areas
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all inventory transactions and physical movement of materials from receipt to stocking to distribution
  • Assists in planning of stockroom layout, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored
  • Develops procedures and train team members on stock transaction procedures and proper material handling
  • Maintains all kiting and shortage pulls to support manufacturing operations
  • Schedules all manpower requirements for Shipping, Receiving and the Stockroom
  • Conducts cycle counts and periodic physical inventories of stockroom and work in progress
  • Maintains a flow of packaging materials and ensures that all finished product are shipped without damage
  • Monitors and expedites shortages on production orders as required.  Communicate part demand with Purchasing and request deliveries and reschedules as needed
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment
  • Enforce rules and policies and disciplinary action as needed

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or related discipline
  • 7+ years in materials management
  • Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP System
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task effectively and efficiently and adapt to changing priorities
  • Leads by example
  • Knowledge of logistics and materials management
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience in Lean practices a plus
