Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible to drive business growth in designated commercial market segments. For the assigned market area (for example medical, broadcast, transportation) the BDM will have prime responsibility for developing a business plan including product development, promotion, channel strategy, pricing and manufacturing strategy. This is a high visibility position that is ideal for an entrepreneurial and creative individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze market information to understand the competitive landscape
  • Develop effective and practical business plans to profitably address market needs
  • Work with multi-functional and multi-national teams to execute the business plan
    • Cooperate with Engineering and Production on product designs
    • Visit customers on a regular basis to facilitate open communication, address technical issues and ensure a high level of customer support
    • Collaborate with customer technical teams to provide a product solution: interpret technical drawing packages, understand end-use requirements and offer the appropriate product solution
    • Work up all pricing and prepare bid proposals to customers.  Ensure accuracy, challenge assumptions and confirm strategic alignment.
  • Strong understanding of key customers, markets and programs
  • Develop and implement key account penetration strategies
  • Negotiate long-term agreements to solidify the company’s position key customers/programs
  • Develop bookings and sales forecasts based on current contracts and future opportunities
  • Serve as a customer service escalation point for issues requiring higher attention or visibility
  • Ensure all communication with customers is professional and reinforces Times Microwave’s strong reputation
  • Participate in program launches and reviews to ensure customers’ requirements are met
  • Facilitate effective hand-off of relevant information from bid to contract performance phase

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, MBA preferred
  • Strong strategic planning, marketing and business skills
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in sales or marketing of technology products in a business-to-business
  • Technical competence with RF/Microwave interconnect technology preferred
  • Comfortable working with all levels of the organization and with all functional groups
  • Experience preferred in Wireless Telecommunications, Test/Instrumentation, Medical or High-Power Industrial markets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • 50% Travel
