Microwave Test Engineer

Job Description:

 

Times is seeking a Microwave Test Engineer to design, develop, and implement detailed test strategies and test techniques to support the integration and acceptance testing of electronic assemblies, subassemblies and systems for use in electronic warfare systems, communications and other systems applications

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement robust and reliable test solutions and procedures in support of a high paced RF production environment. Solutions range from developing manual test set-ups to fully automated test equipment, at the component, assembly and system levels

  • Create test conditions and scripts to automate highly repetitive RF S-Parameter measurements.

  • Construct, characterize, align and test hardware designs in RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave passive components. Components are primarily coaxial but also include strip line, rectangular waveguide as well as differential mode transmission lines.

  • Perform troubleshooting of hardware test failures to determine root cause identification and resolution

  • Perform technical assignments of an investigatory or test nature requiring minimal direction from senior engineering personnel.

  • Responsible for the transition and training of new and legacy hardware to operations personnel.

  • Support Engineering and Operations with testing outside the normal test process, create test setups and test procedures as required

  • A successful candidate will be responsible for extensive software development activities and test engineering support and development of all product lines.

  • Activities will include but not be limited to developing test system software and configuring test bench setups, measuring and analyzing performance data and interacting with design engineers and product engineers to ensure that products are accurately characterized to a customer specification.

  • The candidate will be involved with all aspects of characterization including active and passive components, substrates, as well as active microwave devices.

  • Basic knowledge of DC and RF measurements such as s-parameters, power, noise figure, harmonics and inter-modulation is required.

     

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • BSEE, MSEE or equivalent

  • Must be a passionate, motivated and goal-oriented individual

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to persevere in the face of adversity or rapidly evolving priorities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to interact well with colleagues as well as internal and external customers

  • Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • 5 years experience as a Test Engineer to design, develop, and implement detailed test strategies and test techniques to support the integration and acceptance testing of electronic assemblies, subassemblies and systems for use in electronic warfare, communications and other systems applications

  • 5 years experience interpreting and analyzing complex performance and acceptance test specifications and procedures.

  • 5 years experience developing test solutions with minimal supervision

  • 5 years experience gathering, processing, and analyzing RF signals in the Microwave and millimeter wave domains using various measurement instrumentation (Vector Network Analyzers, Scalar Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes etc.)

  • 5 years experience with automated test station hardware design, specifically switch matrices and various communication protocols (LXI, GPIB, IP etc.)

  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.

  • Experience with design CAD and implementation of test fixtures.

  • Knowledge of Visual Basic

  • Able to measure and analyze RF signals in the microwave and millimeter wave domains using various measurement instruments (PNA, Spectrum Analyzers, ENAs, etc.)

  • Experience with the Daussault CST EM Suite, or equivalent Electromagnetic modelling software

 

Up to 25% travel
