Summary

The Production Planner plans the flow of work and materials in our high mix/low volume manufacturing environment. The Production Planner establishes priorities and coordinates work based on daily and weekly production schedules. The Production Planner updates and maintains scheduled shipments in support of customer delivery expectations.  The Planner will review open backlogs, MRP action reports, supplier deliveries, and coordinate with internal functions to ensure customer delivery requirements are met. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes production schedules that consider customer requests and demands, and production capacity.
  • Interacts with Production Leadership on a regular basis to resolve issues and achieve daily production requirements.
  • Works with Inventory/Stockroom to fill component shortages.
  • Analyzes and prepares documents (work instructions, travelers, etc.) needed for production.
  • Drives to achieve established targets for revenue and on time delivery.
  • Monitors and drives all open orders; has a detailed understanding of assigned backlog.
  • Adjusts scheduled ship dates with the ERP system in real time as needed; advises Sales of relevant changes.
  • Assesses and responds to feasibility of expedite requests.
  • Assists the Sales team with forecasting and safety stock analysis.
  • Gives direction to Purchasing for component expedites and appropriate order quantities to ensure material availability.
  • Performs data analysis and make decisions to support raw material supply and finished goods demand.
  • Maintains the production schedule and other reports as required.
  • Follows-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree with focus on Business, Operations, or Engineering preferred
  • Previous Production Planning experience, strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a high mix/low volume manufacturing environment, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills. Expert skills in Excel required.  
  • Proficiency using ERP Systems, experience with Oracle preferred.
  • High sense of urgency and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
  • Able to manage time and priorities appropriately.
