Summary

The Connector Design Engineer will work in concert with customers, suppliers, and colleagues in a collaborative environment to create innovative designs and processes. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking. Design philosophy will emphasize improving productivity and as well as lowering costs. Main duties include the design of connectors, creation of tools, development of assembly process and manufacturing instructions as required to support transition from design concept to mature producible product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design new products or make modifications to existing products.
  • Interact with customers to understand their requirements and incorporate them into new product designs.
  • Work closely with sales, program managers, and application engineers on new products.
  • Develop assembly processes and assembly tooling.
  • Perform RF simulation analysis and build and test prototypes to optimize designs prior to release.
  • Create/maintain/update 3D design models and associated drawings. Process engineering change requests.
  • Provide technical support for existing products to solve design-related performance, quality and cost issues.
  • Work with suppliers and internal partners to assure/improve manufacturability of new and existing designs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 0 to 5 years related experience. Relevant experience considered.
  • Must have an entrepreneurial sprite, be passionate, and be accountable to meeting goals.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to persevere in the face of adversity or rapidly evolving priorities.
  • Theoretical design skills balanced with strong practical and hands-on personality highly desirable.
  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues as well as internal and external customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with SolidWorks 3D CAD software
  • Experience with electromagnetic and mechanical finite element simulations tools is a plus.
  • Position may incur up to 25% travel.
